Morrolan discovered there was a crashed floating castle in his ancestral homeland, the County of Southmoor.
there are the ruins of [a floating] castle nearby [from Bellows] Perhaps sixty or seventy miles west of here (The Lord of Castle Black, Chapter 37)
On the site of this crashed floating castle, he found two walls that had survived the fall. He used these to construct a temple.
a small village had grown up [on the future site of Castle Black] ... during the excavation of the region, portions of two walls had been found to be intact, and Morrolan, considering how strongly these were built, calculated to use these as the basis of the temple ... ... (The Lord of Castle Black, Chapter 40)
When Kana's army threatened him, Tazendra lifted the temple (and some surrounding land) into the air.
You have said you could lift the temple [Tazendra raises the temple, creating Castle Black] ... can we move? / Only slowly / how long will it take us to reach Dzur Mountain / Five years, perhaps six. (The Lord of Castle Black, Chapter 56)
Morrolan named his newly floating temple Castle Black.
I shall call my keep Castle Black (The Lord of Castle Black, Chapter 65)
So, any text references to this crashed floating castle, Morrolan's encampment, or Castle Black in this book all refer to the same physical location.
At this time, it was 40 or 45 miles south of Dzur Mountain.
The distance from [the future home of Castle Black] to Dzur Mountain was not long--only some forty or forty-five miles (The Lord of Castle Black, Chapter 50)
